De Zwerm (The Swarm) is a portable, wireless sound system designed to bring sound in motion. Conceived and artistically developed by Stijn, the installation consists of twenty mobile loudspeakers that move independently through space, creating an ever-shifting choreography of sound.
Artistically, The Swarm explores the social and physical dimensions of listening. Sound becomes something shared, fluid and collective, a choreography rather than a concert, a landscape rather than a line. The installation has been used in performances, workshops and public interventions where participants co-create sound compositions by moving with the speakers.
In essence, The Swarm embodies a philosophy central to Dickel’s and aifoon’s work: listening not as a passive act, but as a participatory, embodied and collective experience.
